Eriu's Eyes (1999)

"On the way back from the Skellig Islands, Ireland, I was inspired to paint this image while passing Little Skellig. The 22,000 pairs of mated gannets on the rocks and circling in the mist created an ethereal halo for Eriu — the Goddess Sovereignty of Ireland. The diffused light reminded me of the Otherworld, where I have noticed the light to be all pervasive — illumination from within and without, but casting no shadow. In the foreground are two gannets and Fungi, the Dingle dolphin, who is a wild resident of the area."
